Privacy notice

Last updated 11 August 2026.

PTA Storage is a family-run self-storage business at 971 Meerlust Road, Willow Glen, Pretoria. This notice explains what personal information we collect, why, and what you can ask us to do about it. It is written in plain language on purpose.

What we collect

If you send an enquiry through the form on this website, or by WhatsApp, phone or email, we collect your name, your phone number, your email address if you give it, the unit size you are interested in, and whatever you tell us in your message.

If you rent a unit from us, we collect what we need to run the rental: your name, contact details, identity number, physical address, your rental agreement, your payment history, and any correspondence between us. Where a payment arrives by bank transfer, we see the reference and the details your bank sends with it.

For gate access, your cell number is registered on the access-control system so that a call from your phone opens the gate.

On camera. The property is under video surveillance. Cameras cover the entrance, the driveways and the rows of units, and they record continuously. They do not cover the inside of any unit.

When you visit this website, our host records ordinary technical information such as your IP address, in the normal course of serving the page.

Why we use it

To answer your enquiry, to decide what unit suits you, to manage your rental and your account, to reconcile payments, to let you through the gate, to contact you about your unit, and to meet our obligations under tax and other law.

Cookies and other websites

This website does not use advertising cookies, and we do not track you across other sites. There is no Google Analytics, no advertising pixel and no behavioural profiling.

Two things on the site are loaded from Google: the map on the contact section, and the fonts the page is set in. The map is an embed from Google Maps and may set its own cookies once it loads; that processing is Google’s, under Google’s own terms.

Who else sees your information

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for anyone else’s marketing.

We do use ordinary business services to operate — website hosting, email, and accounting and record-keeping software — and your information is stored in or passes through those systems. We share information with other people only where we have to: for example with our bank in relation to payments, or where the law requires it.

Camera footage

We record the common areas of the property to protect the goods stored here and the people who come to fetch them. The cameras watch the entrance, the driveways and the unit rows. They do not look inside anyone’s unit.

Nobody sits watching the screens. The recordings are there so that if something happens, we can go back and see what it was.

Footage is kept for roughly one to two weeks and is then automatically overwritten. We do not share it as a matter of course; we would hand it over to the police, or to your insurer with your say-so, if there were an incident that called for it.

How long we keep it

Enquiries are kept until they are no longer relevant, and sooner if you ask us to delete them. Rental records and the financial records that go with them are kept for at least five years after the rental ends, because tax law requires us to keep records for that long. Camera footage is overwritten within a week or two, as above.

Keeping it safe

Our management system sits behind individual logins with two-factor authentication, and access is limited to the people who need it. No system is perfect, but we take it seriously — this is a business where people trust us with their belongings, and their details deserve the same care.

Your rights

Under the Protection of Personal Information Act you may ask us what personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it if it is wrong, ask us to delete it where we are not obliged to keep it, and object to how we are using it. Just ask — you do not need a special form.

If you are not satisfied with how we have handled something, you can complain to the Information Regulator of South Africa.
